MR LLOYD GEORGE
VIEWS ON LIBERAL REUNION,
EX-MINISTERS CRITICISED.
REFUSAL OF INVITATION.
(United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received October 11, 1.10 p.m. London, Oct. 10. Refusing an invitation to attend a) “Liberal revival” meeting at Queen’s Hall on Wednesday-, which is to be addressed by -Sir Herbert Samuel and, the other Liberal Cabinet members who, recently resigned, Mr Lloyd George disposes of the idea of a Liberal reunion as an early consequence of the resignations. He says it is impossible for him to join a demonstration of approval of tho ex-Ministers’ actions. “I am expected to demonstrate in favour of a calamitous procedure by which free trade was given away at tlie last election,” lie adds. “Can I approve of the National Government’s muddling policy regarding disarmament which lias brought Europe to tho verge of the gravest international crisis since 1914 f Both Sir John Simon and Sir Herbert Samuel are personally responsible for this. Sir Herbert Samuel adhered to Sir John Simon’s fatal Note to Germany. “We must know whether a Liberal revival is to begin by approving of all. their criminal stupidities. If they would make a real fresh start they must disentangle the party from the responsibility of policies sanctioned by the ex-Ministers during the past year,’'Mr Lloyd George concluded.
