IRISH FARMERS.

PLIGHT BECOMING WORSE.

NO MARKET FOR PRODUCE,

(Times Cable.) Received October 3, 8.30 a.m. DUBLIN, Oct. 2. It is understood that the Irish Free State is sending a note to Britain stating that she intends using the land annuities money for domestic purposes. The Government is being strongly urged to assist the farmers, whose plight is becoming worse daily. France and Germany have both imposed special import duties against Free State daily produce, leaving the Irish farmer without a market.

COSGRAVE ADMINISTRATION.

ARCHBISHOP KELLY’S PRAISE,

Archbishop Kelly, of Sydney, leader of the Australian delegation to the Eucharistic Congress at Dublin, praised Air Cosgrave’s administration of Ireland, when he reached Melbourne by the Nestor the other day. Under the Cosgravo Administration, he said, the people of Ireland were happy and contented, and wero more settled than ever before. Air Cosgrave had done splendid work by establishing efficient government in every sphere. It was obvious that the solidarity of the Irish nation had increased under the Cosgrave Government. , Catholics and non-Catliolics were occupying important administrative positions side by side. Although only one-fifth of the population of the Free State was non-Catholic, this section held half the seats in the Senate. Whatever happened in the future, the fruits of this splendid work would remain.
