VICTIMS OF ACCIDENT
SATISFACTORY PROGRESS. DANNEVIRKE, Oct. 1. The condition of the victims of the collision between motor cyclists on the Tipapakuku Road —Miss Ruby McHardy and Messrs Robert Johnson and Dawson Patterson —who were admitted to the Dannevirke Hospital is reported to be satisfactory. Mr Johnson, who had with him Miss McHardy as a pillion passenger, was proceeding to Tiratu, and Mr Patterson, who had with him as a passenger Colin Peck, 18 years, of Tiratu—who escaped injury—was coming into town when the collision occurred.
Colin Peck said there was a dip in the road near where the mishap occurred. When Mr Patterson’s machine shot up the incline they saw the other machine, but too late to avert a collision. Peck was thrown off and on getting up lifted the machines off the injured people and dragged them to the side of the road. Passing motorists pulled up and medical assistance was then summoned by telephone.
