ANGLING SEASON.

The Palmerston North Anglers’ Club held a competition during the week-end to mark the opening of the fishing season. Tho competition was for the heaviest bag and resulted as follows: Iv. Tliorburn, 15 fish, 3131 b. ; E. Wal’d, 5 fish 71b.; N. Palmer, 5 fish, 541 b.; C Page, 1 fish, lib. 20z.; AV. AVard, 1 fish lib. 4oz. The winner’s fish were taken’during the morning in the Oroua River below the Kopane bridge on the minnow. The Manawatu River was not as clear as had been expected. There were numerous small fish in the Ivahuterawa Stream and there were reported to be gome good fish seen in the Otauiu. There were numerous fish in the Tokoniaru, but only small fry were moving.
