FIRE ALARMS.

The month of September was comparatively quiet insofar as the Palmerston North Fire Station was concerned. Of the seven calls received, only two were to actual fires, two being' to chimneys and three proving false. During September, 1931, however, there were twelve summonses received. During the last quarter there were 30 calls, as compared with .31 during the same period last year.
