MEMBERS DISPLEASED.

SEPARATE CAUCUS MEETING. (Bv Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. Resentment has been caused among some of the United members of the Coalition Party because a separate caucus of the Reform group was held this morning. The meeting, it is reported, was summoned by Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, but it is stated that at least two members did not attend. These were Messrs A. M. Samuel and R. A. Wright. No information is available as to the results of the gathering, although one Reformer stated late to-night, “There was nothing to it.” This is the second occasion on which Reform members have met independently of, and without notice, to their United colleagues in the Coalition. Tire previous occasion was during the last emergency session. “It is not quite good enough,” commented one United follower to-night. “If there are to be caucuses —and I doubt whether there is much value in them under the present system—they should be joint gatherings. There should he no independent meetings of a character which bear the sign of secrecy or which suggest that 'riding instructions’ are being given. The United members have not been called aside by the Primo Minister and it is strange that Mr Coates should call his team together in this fashion. There is a feeling of strong resentment among us over these unnecessary causes of friction.”
