THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST,
A fairly deep cyclonic depression is centred in the north Tasman Sea. A moderate anti-cyclone covers southeastern Australia. Moderate to strong winds from between east and north; rising at times to gale force in tire far north. Seas rather rough to rough on the East Coast and in Cook Strait; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong east to north winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, and rather rough to rough seas. Weather cloudy to overcast generally with mist or fog in places; general rains from Nelson and Marlborough northward, with many heavy, falls; elsewhere scattered rain developing. Temperatures mild.
DISTRICT REPORT. RAIN PROBABLE. The Government Meteorologist wired to-day:—The indications are for moderate to strong northerly winds, veering by east to south after about 20 hours. Weather cloudy to overcast, with rain probable. Temperatures will probably become colder tomorrow. The barometer shows little movement, but will be rising soon. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon.—2ft. 6ins.
