(Special to “Standard.”) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 16. -A. special feature of the election of officers at the annual meeting and dinner last night of the Canterburv Chamber of Commerce, the election of Air M. J. Burns to the council, of which his father, Air A. AI. Burns, is already a member, was commented on by the president, Air AV. Bottrell. ulien the names of the new members of the council were announced “Probably for the first time in the history of the chamber we have both father and son as members of the council,- said Mr Bottrell. “To-day Air M. J. Burns, a son of our worthy colleague Air A. AI. Burns, joins us as a member of the council.” (Applause.) The vice-president, Air A. F Wrigln said he was pleased at the election of a fellow lawyer, a son of an old and esteemed member of the chamber Air A. AI. Burns, who is widelv known in newspaper and business circles as managing-editor of the Press was formerly on the staff of the Press Association. AA’ellington
