LOSS OF TRADE.
EFFECT OF LAND ANNUITIES POLICY,
HEDUCED EXPORTS TO BRITAIN.

The Freo State’s loss of trado through the land annuities policy is itrikingly revoaled by the Board of Trade returns for August in which the cattle exported to Britain were valued at £158,189 compared with £995,906 for August, 1931. Other comparative figures are as follow : Butter, £166,621 compared with £369,910; eggs, £106,437 compared with £162,229; bacon, £35,980 compared with £123,579. The comparative total declino is £1,577,000. Nevertheless the duties amounted to £120,000. Though the British exports to tho Free State generally are lower, tho extent is - in nowise comparable. The chief deorease was coal £86,466 compared With £138,457.
