The Feilding Junior Aero Club is making very steady progress and at a meeting of the dar, on J huiwoay night it tas decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Model Aero Awelation. This afternoon th. club held a competition D.rmodl ’planes at the racecourse, when in successful competitors were award d free flights in one of tne planes now visiting Feilding.

A re-union that, with its realistic touches harked back to, the stirring days of J 914-1 8, was held by the I eliding branch of the R.fi.A. ast night j2O ex-servicemen from all parts or i the district combining to make tne gathering a signal success. fbe pre- j *:dent of the branch, Mr -V C. j ing, was in the chair and extended a j cordial welcome to all the ex-d 1 gger3 j present. , I 'I he first important item on trie j programme was the arrival of tne j Mayor GMr C. E. Taylor; under a military escort of three uniformed exservicemen, the whole of those present standing smartly to attention as Mr Taylor was escorted to his seat at the official table with due ceremony. The loyal toast was then honoured, following which the toast of “Absent Comrades” was proposed by Major B. McLeod and replied to by Mr Harding. During the course of his reply the president fittingly referred to the work the R.S.A. v/as doing for exservicemen out of employment, and appealed for assistance tor the object. Mr Harding also introduced Mr TayJor to the gathering, the Mayor briefly returning thanks. A ceremony that was received v/ith enthusiasm was the presentation to Jlr. F. H. (Jarneron ex-president of the association, of tne gold badge of life membership. In calling on Dr. Cameron to accept this signal distinction in recognition of his unceasing interest in the welfare of the association and its members during his eleven years as president, Mr Harding paid a full tribute to all that Dr. and Mrs Cameron had done for the “ex-diggers” in Feilding and distriet. The branch was exceedingly jilcaieyl to have the honour of conferring this distinction fin Dr. Cameron, and with the badge went the heartfelt gratitude of every returned man in the branch for what Dr. and Mrs Cameron had done for him. ( )ti rising to reply, Dr. Cameron v/as enthusiastically received, and after thanking the members for the honour they bad done him returned his thanks for tfie happy thought of associating Mrs Cameron’s name with the presentation as in all that find been done she had played a very moving part. The next toast honoured was that of the Mayor and the Feilding Borough Council, Dr. Cameron proposing it and referring in thankful terms to the assistance the council had always given the R.S.A. movement. The association had never yet been refused the counters subsidy when it applied for help lor returned men, and for tins all were exceedingly grateful. In a fitting reply, the Mayor acknowledged the good work that was lining done by the association for the assistance of unemployed soldiers. It gave him great pleasure to bo present at tins gathering to sec for himself something of the spirit of comradeship which find carried them through Hie dark flays of the War with its manifold trials. Passing on to a lighter vein, Mr Taylor said fie hud 11 pleasing ceremony to perform anil amidst great enthusiasm presented the "freedom of the city’’ to Mr Harding, adding that in his capacity of town clerk, Mr Hurtling know exactly the full HCfijio of the liorough by-laws and where they could bo broken. 'I hose remarks were greeted with an outburst of applauso which was spontaneously renewed when Mr Taylor left shortly nftor in the charge of his escort, the gathering again standing to attention ami cheering lustily. The toast of “The Sister Associations” was proposed by Mr J. B. Stow 11 rt and replied to by Mr A. Ji. Priijeau, president of the Apiti branch, and other toasts honoured wore trie “Anxac Ladies’ Committee” and “The Press.” Items were given during tlio evening by Messrs H. Tollan, H. Dowe, T. Donaldson, G. J. Caiman, D. McGill and N. C. Harding. Mr J. H. Thompson presided at the piano. The gathering “dismissed” at u late hour after a ro-union which will rank as the most suocossfu! aml ciijovaliJo lot held in Feilding. Before the gathering dispersed Mr Harding returned thanks to all who had assisted to make it the success it had boon, particularly the “mess orderlies ’ and UlO “cook-houso sergeant, . Mr A. Mathews, whoso efforts in regard to tlio supper were greatly appreciated.
