WORLD CONFERENCE.

PROBABLY NEXT YEAR, WASHINGTON, Aug. 25. As a result of an interview he had to-day with: President Hoover, Mr S. M. Bruco (Australia) considers it impossible to hold the proposed world conference until 1933.

The official opinion at Washington is that it would be useless to think of holding the conference until after the Presidential election. If Mr Hoover is returned, a conference is possible in January. If Mr Roosevelt wins, the change of administration will probablv necessitate a postponement until May, seeing that Mr Roosevelt would not assume office until March. Current opinion at Washington is that President Hoover will be returned, seeing that Mr Roosevelt is ground between two millstones. If he breaks with Mr James Walker, Mayor of New York, he will lose Tammany. If Mr Walker wins, Mr Roosevelt’s prestige will be fatally damaged.
