DOMINION’S FINANCES
LOANS IN ENGLAND. PROSPECTS OF CONVERSION. MINISTER’S VISIT TO LONDON. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Aug. 25. Commenting on the coming visit to London of the New Zealand Finance Minister, Hon. AV. Downie Stewart, and tho Secretary of the Treasury, Mr A. D. Park, the Financial News says that tho position is sufficiently reassuring to make possible the conversion earlier of New Zealand loan issues on reasonably favourable terms. “It is doubtful, however whether a spectacular saving could bo achieved, for tho Dominion in the past has rarely had to borrow on really expensive terms,” the paper adds. “Credit at the moment is approximately on a4l per cent basis.”
