FROZEN OYSTERS.

SHIPMENT TO ENGLAND. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Aug. 26. Commenting on the cablegram regarding a local shipment of frozen oysters to London, the chairman of directors of the Stewart Island Fresh Oyster Company stated that he was still convinced that a shipment could he successfully sent Home. One factor militating against the success of the trial shipment was that the oysters were carried in a small refrigerator on deck and not in the ship’s hold. He mentioned that oysters had been kept in a similar refrigerator at Invercargill at the same temperature as those carried on the ship, and, when tested on August 12, more than seven weeks after freezing, they proved wholesome and palatable.
