TALLIS WINS ROTORUA FINAL. Per Press Association. ROTORUA, Aug. 26. The Rotorua Golf Club’s open tournament was concluded to-day in ideal golfing weather, when G. Tallis (Titirangi) defeated F. Fryer (Napier), 6 and 5, in the open championship. Tho Thermal Cup was also won by a Titirangi player, L. F. Murray, who beat G. Napier, Whakatane, 6 and 4. The tournament is to be followed the annual New Zealand veteran s tourney, opening on Monday. In the semi-finals, when Fryer defeated 0. H. Williams (Manawatu), playing steady golf throughout, the Hawke’s Bay man was 3 up at the turn. Tlie game then took a dramatic turn, as Williams captured tho next three holes, making the soore all square. Fryer went into the lead again, winning at the fifteenth and sixteenth, a. half at tho seventeenth giving him the victory. In tho afternoon, K. S. Glendinning (Manawatu) and F. C. Hutchinson (Wanganui) returned a foursomeß card of 70 (39 and 31, the homeward journey being a course record). WEST COAST TOURNAMENT. Per Press Association. WESTPORT, Aug. 26. The finals in tho West Coast golf championships were played to-day with fine weather in the morning, but rain in the afternoon. The men’s championship was won by A. K. Smith, holder (Greymouth) from T. Park (Westport), 4 up and 3 to play, and tho ladies’ chaihpionsliip was won by Mrs Hannan (Greymouth) from Mrs Walker (Westport), 3 up and 2 to play. LADIES’ MATCH. Twenty players from the Levin Ladies’ Golf Club visited the Hokowhitu links yesterday to play the Manawatu Ladies’ Golf Club, which won an enjoyable competition by 10 games to 5, five games being halved. Details are as follow, the Manawatu players being mentioned first in each instance: —Mrs Ekstcdt halved with Mrs Mackenzie, Mrs Speechley halved with Mrs McQuin, Mrs Stewart lost to Miss Everett, Miss Wason lost to Mrs Hunter, Miss Mildred. Sim beat Mrs Sievers, Mrs Raven beat Mrs McDonald, Mrs Gowing beat Mrs Lynch, Miss Ivearins beat Miss Herrick, Miss Spring beat Mrs Denton, Mrs Whitehead heat Mrs Hosie, Miss Nash beat Mrs Hamilton, Mrs Billens halved with Mrs Taverner, Mrs Gabriel lost to Mrs Wilson, Mrs Lovelock halved with Mrs Park, Mrs McKegg beat Mrs Clarke, Mrs Wingate lost to Mis Davies, Miss Lumsden heat Miss Milnes, Miss Macfarla.no halved ivitli Miss Gorringe, Mrs Ongley lost to Miss Mackenzie, Mrs Luke beat Miss Clarke.
