THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. An extensive anti-cyclone is still centred over the Dominion. A slight westerly depression is moving over the southern Tasman Sea. South-easterly winds at first north of Kawhia and East Cape; otherwise northerly prevailing, light to moderate generally, but freshening gradually. Seas smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate seas, hut winds and seas rising in the southern portion. Weather still fine generally at first, but cloud increasing in districts -with a westerly aspect and some showers developing later. Temperatures becoming milder.
DISTRICT REPORT,
CLOUDY AND UNSETTLED,
The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day : The indications are for northerly winds, freshening. There is a prospect of fair weather, but after about ten hours the conditions may be cloudy and unsettled with rain following. Temperatures should be milder. The barometer is falling slowly.
