(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKX, Aug. 25. At the monthly meeting of tho Otaki rlunket Society Mrs Cockroll presided. Tho nurse’s reports for Juno and July were read. An executive was elected, consisting of Dr. Atinorc (president), Mesdames Higgins and Milno (vice-presidents) and Mesdarnes, Nicolson, Lethbridge, Cockrell, Wilson and Buckrell (secretary). A letter was received from tho Christchurch Plunket Society asking for donations of spring flowers for their Violet Day to be hold on September 9.
The third mooting of the Otaki Distress Relief Committee took place on Tuesday. The deputation that had met the unemployed men of Otaki reported that they received a good hearing and that tho men bad resolved to abstain from any acts that might alienate public sympathy. A letter is to bo sent to tho Palmerston North Hospital and Charitablo Aid Board asking that sufficient meat bo sent regularly for distribution amongst the men.
