SUPPLIES OF PROVISIONS

WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. As there has been no connection by steamer with the Chatham Islands and New .Zealand since the Tees made a trip in April, it lias been decided to dispatch the Government lighthouse steamer Alatai to the islands with provisions for the inhabitants, who are running short. The Matai will leave Wellington at midday on Monday and Lyttelton at 6 p.m. on Tuesday for Waitangi, and return direct to Wellington.
