PROGRESS OF WORK. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. Mr F. W. Furkert, Chief Engineer of the Public AVorks Department, today said that he expected the work of making the coffer dam at Arapuni watertight by means of tarpaulins would bo finished within a week and that the dewatering to enable repair work on the tiled lining of the headrace to be proceeded with would then commence. The protracted preparation of the tarpaulin covering is duo to its awkward shape.
