NATURAL SPEEDWAY.
DRY BED OF LAKE. Received August 23, 12.45 p.m. CANBERRA Aug. 23. The prospect that Sir Malcolm Campbell may race on tho dry hod of Lako George has aroused enthusiasm m tho district between Goulburn and Canberra. . The district claims to have convinced Air F. H. Stewart that the unvarying level of tho natural 15 miles . of speedway makes the lako bed far superior to the uncertain Ninety Milo Beach in New Zealand. Mr Stewart says that an invitation will probably he ’ sent to Sir Malcolm Campbell. A speed trial on Lake Georgo would represent a most remarkable transformation. A generation ago, before its water mysteriously disappeared, Lako George figured in international sculling when tho New Zealander Stevenson defeated Bubear (England) and Miller (Australia) in a three mile event.
