WORK OF SESSION.
DATE OF OPENING,
Per Press Association
AA'ELLIXGTOX, Aug. 17. Even if, as stated from Ottawa, the closing of the Economic Conference is slightly delayed, this should have no effect upon the opening date of the next session ox the New Zealand Parliament.
The Prime 3iinister (Rt. Hon. G. AA'. Forbes) said to-day that-, although Cabinet had not so far decided upon the date of opening, he thought it would be about September 22. The Monowai would leave San Francisco for AA'ellington on August 31, and there would be plenty of time for the New Zealand delegates to join the vessel and arrive in New Zealand on September 19. The Government would have a few days in which to confer with them before the session opened.
3lr Forbes said he expected Parliament to sit about 12 weeks, rising just before Christmas. Some members, particularly Labour, were sceptical of the business going through in the time, and it was possible, therefore, that ’ tlie House might resume after the holidavs.
