Mr Albert Russell, of Wellington, who has been on a business trip to the United States and Europe, is due back again in Wellington on September 19. Deputy-Superintendent P. A. Milverton. of the Central Fire Station, who has been spending his annual leave in Christchurch, resumed his duties to-day. Hon. Sir George Fowlds (chairman of the Council of the _ Massey Agricultural College.) was a visitor to Palmerston X'orth yesterday. He returned to Auckland last evening. Mr W .A. lorns, chairman of the X'ew Zealand Dairy Produce Board, was a visitor to the Manawatu yesterday. being present at the annual meeting or suppliers of the Ror.gotea Dairy Coy.
A cablegram from London_ announces the death of Rev. William Young Fullerton, who was home secretary oi the Baptist Missionary Society from 1912 to 1927 and consultant secretary since the latter year. Rev. Mr Young, who was 75 years of age, visited New Zealand in 1921.
Mr J. A. Cheetharn, who did not seek re-election to the electorate owing to ill-health, was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks on the motion of Air P. Hansen at the annual meeting or the suppliers of the Awahuri Dairy Company. Mr Hansen stated that they had never had the services of a better man. Mr Cheetharn had been chairman for five years and a director for IS years. It 'was decided to place on record the company's appreciation of Mr Cheetham’s services. Before the commencement of the business at the annual meeting of the Ilongotea Co-op. Dairy Co. yesterday, reference was made to the passing of two old identities, Mr H. H. Hunt and Mr A. Hintz. Botli gentlemen had spent many years in the district and their services were greatly appreciated. For a number of years' Mr Hunt was a director of the company and Held the position oi chairman of directors for several seasons. The meeting observed a period of silence as a mark of respect to both the deceased gentlemen.
The acceptance of a presentation subscribed to by suppliers was asked of Mr X. Campbell (chairman of directors; at the annual meeting of the Awahuri Dairy Company yesterday afternoon, as 'an expression of goodwi 11 and recognition oi his services. Mr W. S. Carter made the presentation and voiced appropriate sentiments. Replying, Mr Campbell expressed ins deep appreciation, -and stated that it would have been impossible for the company to have achieved such gratifying results with* out the loyal support of the staff and board of directors, Mr E. 0. Bond stated that the heaviest responsibility rested upon the chairman, who had been untiring in His efforts to improve local marketing conditions. 3Jr Beattie stated that the directors of ttie company were keen supporters of the chairman. Subsequently, Mr Campbell was re-elected chairman of directors for tlie ensuing year.
