ORION MOTOR CLUB
ANNUAL REPORT. Mr W. It. Miller, president of the Orion Motor Cycle Club, in the third annual report, for the year ending July 31, states: —“During the season four picnics were held. All were well attended by members and their friends, and after running expenses were paid a credit balance of £1 Os 4d is shown. Six reliability trials were held during the season, the successful competitors being —Bai Cup trial, Mr W. It. Miller; Harley-Davidson Cup trial, Mr T. Gilshnan ; ' Miller-Pasley Cup trial, Mr I. Jewett; Pink and Manning’s Shield trial, Mr M. Banks; Orion Challenge Cup and Norton Cup trial, Mr J. It. Belk; Bruce and Bai Cup trial, Mr S. Hickford. All the trials were well attended. The thanks of the club are due to Messrs Pink and Manning, who presented the club with a shield for annual competition, also a replica for the past season; thanks are also due to Messrs \V. J. Smith, J. Manning, son., and Miller and Pasley for their donation of replicas. After the purchase of other trophies for the trials and engraving of same, the reliability trials show a debit balance of 10s sd. A wind-up social and dance was held, at which the cups and trophies were presented. This social was well attended by members, their friends and a largo number of members of the Wanganui Motor Cycle Club. The debit shown on the social is Is 4d. Again the membership has fallen under that of last year, due to the general depression, but it is pleasing to note that the committee have been successful in keeping the expenditure as low as possiblo, the debit balance on the season’s working being only 19s 4d as shown in the balance-sheet. The funds of the club now show a credit of £7 13s Bd. It will bo noted that two trophies hold by the club for annual competition were not competed for diming the past season ; they are the P. and M. Trophy and the Winter Crip. The club is now well provided with trophies, and during the past season time did not permit of all trophiesbeing competed for. The club, in addition to the credit balance of £7 13s Bd, has general equipment amounting to £7 10s and cups and trophies valued at £7o, which the committee have covered by insurance. The club is greatly thankful to all those who so kindly assisted in tlio trials by acting as checks, etc. for without their assistance we would find it very difficult and uninteresting in running our trials.”
