MILSON.

(From Our Own Correspondent). MILSON, June 23.

Encouraged by the success of their previous efforts, tho Milson ladies’ committee last night held a community sing in the hall, which was comfortably filled. Those who attended had quite a jolly evening, singing old and new popular melodies. The Chapman Bros., of Palmerston .North, led the singing, while solo numbers, greatly appreciated, were contributed by Messrs Toon and Longbottom. Mrs F. G. Murphy played tho piano and accompanied the soloists. Tho silver collection taken at tho door goes to supplement the funds of the school conunitete. The committee received numerous congratulations on tho succes of tho evening and many requests | were made for another sing to bo held. The committee will consider the requests. Mr J. C. A. Donaldson, chairman of tho Milson Progressive Associaiton, who is at present in the Palmerston North Hospital underwent an operation on Tuesday. He is making satisfactory progress. Mrs G Richmond, of Montreal Street, is at present confined to her home owing to illness. Mr and Mrs H. Dowhurst, of Cambridge Street, have left Milson on a visit to Auckland. Mrs T. Gumming Ims recovered from her recent indisposition. Mr W. Robson has resumed duty after a brief illness.
