TARIFF WALL.

AMERICA BUILDS HIGHER, 4VASHINGTON, May 23. The Senate to-niglrt voted virtual embargoes against Canadian lumber and copper. The duty on lumber has been raised from one dollar to three dollars per 1000 board feet, and a tariff of four cents a pound has been imposed on copper. Haruwood flooring is exempted from the lumber duty. '■ The increases are provided for in the billion-dollar Revenue Bill, and unless they are removed when the Bill goes to a compromise between the House and Senate, Canada stands to lose trade which was worth 28,000,000 dollars last year.
