JUDGES’ COMMENT. Miss Evelyn Edgar, the dancing was enthusiastic in her praise of tho win-

ning and placed performances in tho dancing events- and said that a remarkable featuro lmd been tho narrow margins separating tho place-getters in the operatio dance —Shona Bennett, Jean O’Connor and Valerie Oram, who had danced with beautiful rhythm and had given extremely pleasing performances. The standard was really high in tho character story dance, while the place-earners in the other operatic danco bad been brilliant. In conclusion, she said that tho dances had given her real pleasure. Mr H, Barry Coney described the piano solo (under 14) as a very good event, likowiso the vocal solo for girls under 14. The winners of the duet in character had given a charming performance, while tho winners in the vocal duet had very fine voices. Tho baritone solo had been another good class, though ho had boon disappointed with tho piano solo championship. Tho other classes, however, had all been good. Mr Stanley Warwick, who judged tho elocutionary items, said that the performers in the test recitation had reason to feel pleased with themselves, for it was a delightful class with a big proportion of tho competitors obtaining very good marks.
