FORGED FINGERPRINT.
A practical demonstration showing that it is possible to make a mould of a finger-print was given in the Criminal Court at Hobart recently. A photographer placed a fingerprint on a knife with a stamp made from the mould of an accused man’s fingerprint. The print was identical with one genuinely placed there by the accused . The Chief Justice (Sir Herbert Nicholls) remarked that counsel for the defence, by liis enterprise, had for tho first time in a Tasmanian Court, made it absolutely clear that a finger-print, like a signature, could be forged.
