WEDDING

BARNETT—STILES. The wedding took place yesterday at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Broadway, of Marion Elizabeth, third daughter of Mr and Mrs G. H. Stiles, of “Woodlands,” Terrace End, to Ernest William, eldest son of Dr and Mrs E. C. Barnett, of Fitzherbert Avenue. The ceremony was performed by Rev. F. Copeland, of Feilding, an old friend of the bridegroom’s family. The organist was Mr A. Tregurtha. Numerous friends of the happy couple were present, the bride being a member of St. Paul’s choir, assistant organist, and a leading Sunday school teacher. Their friends' had decorated tho church prettily with autumn foliage and chrysanthemums. The bride and bridegroom knelt at the altar under a beautiful floral bell of white chrysanthemums. The ladies of the bridal group wore delightful gowns of tasteful simplicity. The bride, who was given away, by her father, was a charming picture of slender grace in a beautiful period gown of ivory chiffon velvet. It was of ankle length, fully flared, with [jointed hip yoke. The long sleeves were puffed at the shoulders and pointed at the wrists. The gown had a large bustle at the back. The shoes and stockings were to tone. Her embroidered net veil draped way in a long train from tho shoulders. She carried a delightful sheaf of golden cream roses. The bridesmaids wero Miss Joan Barnett (chief) aiid Miss Violet Wood. They looked most becoming in gowns of peach blossom chiffon velvet, ankle length and fully flared. The, dresses were finished with tiny, epaulettes at the shoulders and each had a chiffon bow across the back. Each bridesmaid had a little fur muff and carried a small posy. Their tiny caps were of niched velvet, with natural polyanthus roses at the side. Their shoes and stockings were to tone. The duties of best man were canned out by Mr E. Stiles, brother of the bride, and Mr J. Barnett, brother of tho bridegroom, was groomsman. Subsequently a reception was held at tho Rosco tearooms. Airs Stiles, mother of the bride, with Mrs Barnett, mother of tho bridegroom, received the guests. Tho former wore a black woollen laco frock, a pony cloth coat with fur collar, and a smart black velour hat. She carried a posy of autumn tints. Airs Barnett woro a wine coloured frock, with hat to tone, and carried a small Eosy of autumn flowers. Tho wedding reakfast table was prettily decorated with African daisies.

The health of the bride’s' parents was proposed by Air G. H. Bennott, and the health of the bridegroom’s parents by Air Durant, of Taihape. Amid many congratulations from their friends. Air and Airs E. AV. Barnett later left by car for the south. Tho bride’s travelling dress was a green wool frock and she wore a green velour coat with fur collar. Her Glengarry hat was of the same tone.
