(From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, May 18. At the football match, playod at the Domain on Saturday afternoon, Waituna v. Apiti seniors, the local team won, the scores being Apiti 21, Waituna 11. The junior team journeyed to Ranpiwahia and were defeated, the scores being: Rangiwahia 9, Apiti nil. A well attended dance was held in the Public Hall in the evening for the benofit of the club. The lady members of the Apiti Rifle Club competed last Saturday for trophies donated by the men’s section, tho conditions of shooting being ideal. Tho results were as follow:—Miss M. Pettigrew, 37 at 200vds, handicap 10, total 47; Mrs K. Waterson, 39—(6)—45; Mrs A. Princess, 42—(1)—43; Miss M. McKenzie, 36 —(7) — 43 • Miss J. Pettigrew, 32 —10 —42; Mrs C. Buckman, 37—(3)—40; Mrs, J. Johnson, 28 —(10)—38; Mrs R. Hooper, 27—(10)—37; Miss J. Nix, 28—(8)—36; Miss M. DougKty, 17 —(8) —25; Mrs A. Dick, 17 —(7) —24. Mrs A Prince gained third place in the shoot off with Miss McKenzie. The ladies’ club donated a handsome clock as a trophy for tho men. The competition for this commenced on May 14th, a series of 6ix shoots to bo held, tho trophy to be won by the highest aggregate of the best four shoots. An excellent attendance patronised the bridge and dance evening held in connection with the Riflo Club. Tho winners of tho bridge tournament were Mrs A. Dick and Mr W. T. Pratt. Dancing continued until a late hour. Miss Cummerfield supplied the music.
