COAL MINES DISPUTE

CONFERENCE TO BE HELD. Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, May 16. Tlie coal mines in tho Grey and Inangahua districts will resume operations to-morrow consequent upon the receipt by the miners’ organisation of a telegram from the Coalowners’ Federation to the effect that a conference is being arranged in order to negotiate a new agreement. In the meantime the miners are working under the old agreement. It is doubtful, however, whether the Buller mines will resume before Thursday as the intimation of the owners’ decision concerning the conference arrived too late to allow of the Buller unions being advised by telegram tonight of the resumption. The date of the conference is to be advised later by the coal owners.
