“CLEAN-UP WEEK”

DISPOSAL OF JtUBBISH. The matter of arranging for the annual “clean-up week” was mentioned at the meeting of the City Council last night by Cr McLeod, who said that they could then collect the old tins, bottles and other things that were not included in the usual rubbish that was removed. Cr Cameron said that other places, Wellington for instance, had taken in hand the filling of old pits and depressions with the rubbish that was collected. In Palmerston North they had similar places, one of .which was at Terraco End. The rubbish could be carted to these places and covered with earth each day and so get rid of some of the unsightly spots. The matter was left to the town clerk 'to refer to the engineer.
