MOTORIST FINED.

Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 21. Fines totalling £2O were imposed on a “hit-and-run” motorist, Thomas Henry Owens, aged 34, a truck driver of Woolston, by Mr Mosley, S.M. Owens knocked down two men in Ferry ltoad on March 20 and failed to stop. His apprehension was stated by the police to be partly due to the publicity given to the case in the newspapers. Owen’s license, on which he depends for a livelihood, was not cancelled. The Magistrate stated that he was loth to throw anyone on the unemployed list just now. Owens pleaded guilty.
