IRISH POLICY.
SITUATION GRAVE. ATMOSPHERE OF UNCERTAINTY. LONDON, March 21. According to the Times’s Dublin correspondent, there will be special displays on Easter Monday, the anniversary of the rebellion of 1916. Nobody knows what will happen next, but the situation is grave. “Perhaps,” adds the writer, “Mr de Valera is the only man who does not recognise this, apparently persuading himself that Britain will not resent a repudiation of the Anglo-Irish settlement. “Other Irishmen realise that Britain cannot ignore Mr de Valera’s challenge. They await developments with profound anxiety. Many are concerned for Ireland’s honolir and all for her economic future. The Cosgrave section is not likely to disclose its intentions before the Dail meets on April 24.”
