LOSS OF THE KOTITI.
MARINE COURT’S FINDING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 25. The opinion that the vessel, when she left Westport on her last trip, was seaworthy and well found, and that her loss was not caused or contributed to by any act or default on the part of the master, the crew or the owners, is expressed by the Marine Court which has been inquiring into the loss of the small vessel Kotiti. The Court makes certain recommendations in respect to the proper stowing of deck cargo and the prevention of coal and other mobile cargoes shifting in heavy seas. From the position of the various articles that came ashore, and from consideration of the wind and tides prevailing throughout thd relevant period, it is considered that the vessel was lost at a point approximately due west of Cape Farewell. The Court considers a probable cause of the loss of the vessel might have been the shifting of her coal cargo in heavy seas.
