Commenting on his latest recordbreaking feat, the racing motorist, Sir Malcolm Campbell, said: “I am not at all pleased with the record. I should have driven much faster, but the wind bn the second run slowed me -up considerably. It felt as though it was blowing at 40 miles an hour at least. I am-going to check over the car and if I find it is in good cona tion and the beach is still good to-morrow, I am going to try for a faster record. '“During both runs I had to steer with all my might because of the-wind. To the marks at the south end of the course. I had to run through aster left by the reeeding tide. It looked like a'lake as I approached and dashed through it.” "WIZARD” SMITH’S COMMENT. CONFIDENT OF BETTER PERFORMANCE.

Mr “Wizard” Smith, when apprised of Sir Malcolm Campbell’s feat, said it was a wonderful achievement, though ho had expected the record to be broken by a larger margin. Mr Smith was quite confident that lie would break Sir Malcolm’s record, and mentioned 20 miles as a possible margin. ' Mr Smith will make an attempt on the five-mile record this afternoon.
