TRANS-TASMAN FLIGHT.
NEW ZEALAND PILOT’S INTENTION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. Feb. 23. Arrangements for a flight from Sydney to Auckland by a well-known New Zealand pilot _in an Australian-built seaplane are in train. The crossing of the Tasman will be made about the middle of next month, subject- to the weather conditions, and a young Auckland business man will be carried as a passenger. The pilot intends to fly * via Lord Howe Island.. This will be the first occasion that Auckland has been made the destination of a Tasman flight, and no seaplane has yet made the crossing from Australia to New Zealand. 1
The pilot is a former Royal Air Force officer, who has over 2000 hours’ experience in the air. He retired from the Air Force in 1929, and came to New Zealand, where he has been closely connected with civil aviation.
