WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE. YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. The Wellington share' market again showed dullness yesterday and only four sales were recorded. There waa & restricted demand for Government securities, while sellers were numerous. .'The 54 per cent, stocks and bonds were wanted at £9B 12s 6d, the same as. on tho previous day. The 5A per cent, bonds, 1937, were wanted at £99, and the stocks at £9B 17s 6d, with a sale of the latter at £99; last week those stocks 6old at : £99 5e to £99 12s 6d. Rural advances 5 per cent., 1947, were 2s 6d higher at £BS 17« 6d, but sellers held for £B6 10s. Wellington Gaa debentures wore in demand at, £lOl, with no sellers. Wellington Harbour Board 54 per cents., 1940, were wanted; at £97 10a. The debentures of several local bodies are now being pressed for sale, and although prices quoted are easy there arc no buyers. , •There continues to be a small demand for bank shares. Commercial Bank of Australia ordinary at 14s Id and Bank of New Zealand at 44s 8d meeting with the most consistent demand. Bank of New Zealand long-term shares were steady at 26b. Bank of • Australasia were wanted at £0 od, this being the first buying quotation for several weeks. , Goldsbrough, Mort and Co. were firm end unchanged at 22s 6d, and for New Zealand Guarantee Corporation ordinary buyers offered 4s 3d, but Beliefs held for 4s 9d. There was again no demand for insurance, gas, meat, coal and timber shares. P. and O. deferred stock were steady at 21s. woollen shares were firm, Kaiapoi Woollen ordinary at 6s Id and Wellington Woollen ordinary at £4 2s od. New Zealand Breweries were a shade firmer at 25s 2d, but Tooth and Co. were clown 5d at 22s lOd. British Tobacco were down 3d at 25s 9d, Electrolytic Zinc preference were unchanged at 20s 9d; Dental and Medical were in deifaand at oa* with no sellers. New Zealand Drug were up- 3d at 45s 9d, and Woolworths rights were 6d higher at Is 6d. . Mining snares are meeting with a better demand. Mount Lyell were steady at 19s Bd, Okarito were up 2d at 9s sd, _ and Blackwater were 6d higher at 6s 6d. Mahakipawa were wanted at 2d. ■ YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
