OROUA DOWNS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OROUA DOWNS, Feb. 21. Under the auspices of the Women’s Institute a very pleasant time was spent at the Memorial Hall on Saturday evening, the object of the function being to tender a social evening and kitchen tea to Mr and Mrs O. Berg and Mr and Mrs H. Berg after their lass in the recent fire. Quito a well-laden table was the result of the arrangements and the hall was filled with residents and friends. On behalf of those present, Mr J. Cameron asked the guests’ acceptance of the gifts and expressed everyone’s sympathy in the loss they had sustained- by the fire and wished them every good luck in the future. Both families had, he said, been great sports amongst them and had always placed their grounds at the disposal of the Oroua Downs Sports and Football Clubs, and in every way assisted in the district’s functions generally. Messrs 0. and H. Berg suitably replied. The ladies of the district provided supper and Miss McKenzie supplied music for the dances, Messrs Hobbs and Morrice playing extras on the accordion. Miss E. Gray ably car/ied out the duties of M.C.
