CRICKET TOUR.
SOUTH AFRICANS ARRIVE. MATCH AT AUCKLAND TO-DAY. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 23. The South African cricketers arrived by the Maunganul this morning. The manager, Mr.J. H. Tandy, in referring to the team’s record in Australia and the influence of the varied weather, mentioned that on occasions when the Australians were batting and the weather was bad the visitors went for a week, or even ten days, without having a hat in their hands. Consequently, they suffered from lack of match practice. The fielding, had been generally good, and the bowling had even exceeded expctations. Feeble batting had accounted for their disappointing showing in the Tests. Mr Tandy, with Bell, Vincent and Curnow, left this morning for Rotorua. Th'GV will rejoin tlie team at Frankton on Thursday. This leaves only ..he bare eleven for the match against Auckland which' starts this afternoon.
