MOTOR SHIP ARGUS.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 22. Phe Holm Shipping Company’s new motor ship Argus arrived at Wellington under its own power to-night, accompanied by the Union Company’s Gabriella. The Argus was taken in tow by the Gabriella on Friday when, it had broken down off Black Head, 31 miles south of Napier. The Gabriella was compelled to use a rocket apparatus to get a line aboard the disabled vessel.

Owing to adverse weather j the Gabriella’s captain decided to make for Wellington instead of Napier. Steady progress was made until Sunday night, when the seas were so heavy that the two ships practically hove to. Early this morning repairs were completed to the engines of the Argus and they were kept going in order to ease the strain on the tow rope. At about 6 a.m. the tow line carried away near the Gabriella and the Argus continued the voyage under its own p-ower, the Gabriella remaining with it until safely in the stream.
