HAINING STREET RAID.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 22. The police raided a three-roomed house in Haining Street on Saturday night. 1 Using a crowbar, saw- and axe to brenk in the barricaded door, they found a large quantity of opium and pipes and fifteen Chinese, aged from 75 to 28. YVoon Jang, the proprietor, was to-day fined a total of £250. Twelve men were fined £l2 10s'each for being on premises. The charges against the others were dismissed.
