ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE
PALMERSTON NORTH DIVISION. The fortnightly meeting of tire Palmerston North Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade was held in the Central Fire Station, when stretcher drill and bandaging were practised under the supervision of Ambulance Officer G. M. Dredge. The division acknowledged with thanks a donation of £2 from the Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing Club as a result of tire services rendered by the division at the club’s recent meeting.
On Wednesday evening the division supplied four members for duty at the Port Nicholson's Cycle Meeting hold at Levin when thev had a busy time attending to nine cases of first aid : Fracture of the left forearm and abrasions to both arms and hips; scalp wound, slight concussion and abrasions; lacerated wound over left eye and abrasions; abrasions and bruises on arms and legs; concussion and abrasions on head; abrasions on legs, arms and back; abrasions on face, legs and arms and slight concussion. Tire above-mentioned were all competitors in the events. The officers of the cycle club expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to the ambulance men on duty for the capable manner in which they had carried out their work. Last week the division had a busy time as seven public duties were attended, and on each occasion four members were on duty. As the work of the division is growing very rapidly it is imperative that the membership must bo considerablv increased in the near future. A class in first aid will be soon commencing and all gentlemen who are interested in the work of St. John, being invited to join the division and take an active part in assisting to fulfil the work that has been .undertaken and which is carried out solely for the good of humanity.
