WRESTLING IN SYDNEY.
SYDNEY, Feb. 21. The wrestlers Walter Browning and Billy Meeske created another diversion at the Leieharjlt Stadium last night. In the second round Meeske’s head. and Browning’s leg became entangled in the ropes. The referee, Mr McMasters, went to assist Meeske, who, resenting the intrusion, headlocked him. • The audience rocked with delight as the referee tried to free himself, and a corner man who rused in to assist was promptly kicked to his place by McMasters. The fourth round was one of scratch, bite and kick. At the end of the sixth round each man had scored one fall, but the decision was awarded to Meeske. A fortnight ago in the same ring there were inr'-’riiiis scenes when Tom Lurioh opposed Walter Browning. Lurich tore tne referee s smrt, off and threw it among the spectators. The referee retaliated and threw Lurich, who was . spreadeagled in tho Press seats. Lurich later again fell foul of the referee, who planted a straight left to his jaw. The contest was awarded to Lurich by one foil to nil. Billy Meeske was then introduced as Lunch’s noxt opponent. The latter refused the usual courtesy handshake, whereupon Meeske punched him on tho nose, which was tho climax to a wild night, Lurich having to beat a hasty retreat to his dressing room to avoid tho crowd’s wrath.
