GOLF.

GLENDINNING CUP SERIES. Members of the Manawatu . Golf Club experienced wintry conditions for the third co in petition in the Glendinning Cup series at the week-end. Although the response from members was excellent, the standard of play was not high owing to the changed conditions, the heavy rains having slowed the fairways and greens considerably. The competition, a- bogey match, resulted in a tie between A. E. Hansel and I. F. Speech ley, who emerged all square with “The Colonel,” while the next' best card was returned by J. M. Taylor, who was 3 down. Then came F. Cousins, P. Rabone and P. Cope with cards of 4 down. .A. G. Sime, the West Coast champion, who was attending the conference of bakers during the past week, took the opportunity, during his stay of indulging in a round of the links. On one occasion he returned a nice card of 73. The southerner was very enthusiastic concerning the state of the links.
