NEW FLOATING DOCK.

MOVED TO PERMANENT BERTH. ' Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 19. Wellington’s floating dock was towed this morning from its temporary moorings at the Thorndon breastwork to its permanent abode near Kaiwarra. A dead calm prevailed, the harbour being enveloped m fog' and hardly a ripple disturbing the placid waters of, the port. New heavy moorings have been provided to replace those which some weeks ago, on the arrival of the dock, proved unequal to the task of holding it, and no difficulty should ' be experienced in connecting up the dock to its wharf with the big steel booms which are to hold it. The services of the floating crane Hikitea ar? available for handling the booms while the work is in progress.
