THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. A slight anti-cyclone is passing just south of New Zealand. A cyclonic depression is centred south, of Norfolk Island. Winds south-east to north-east or in places north ; light to moderate mainly, but freshening' in tho north. Seas smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. South-east to north-east winds, freshening in the northern portion with rising seas in the eastern Tasman Sea; moderate •in the southern portion, with smooth to moderate seas. Weather cloudy and muggy, with mist or fog in places. Rain setting in over North Auckland and extending southward ; scattered rain and in places thunder; also in more southern districts. DISTRICT REPORT. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: —The indications are for moderate northerly winds. Expect dull weather, with much mist and fog in parts, and rain is probable. The barometer, has a falling tendency. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon.—lft. Sin.
