BOWLING

INTER-CENTRE MATCH. manawattTplayees at •WELLINGTON. Sixteen rinks from the Manawatu Bowling Centre visited Wellington yesterday for the annual fixture with the Wellington Centre. The party was accompanied by the president of the Manawatu Centre, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P. . In the morning four rinks pla.yed a friendly match against Wellington Club, the results being as follow (Wellington skips mentioned first): Mayer 16, Bartholomew 20; Duncan 18, Mattar 26; Dymock 24, Bennett 16; Roberts 21, Nash 21. Other rinks played at tho Thorndon, Victoria and Island Bay greens. The 16 Manawatu rinks met 16 representative Wellington rinks in the afternoon at Wellington green in the inter-centre match, and thoroughly enjoyed the games, Manawatu winning on the aggregate by 32? to 286. Manawatu had 8 wins, 6 losses and 3 ties; Wellington, 5 wins, 8 losses, 3 ties. The visitors were welcomed by Mr M. J. Hodgins, president of the Wellington centre, who at the close congratulated them upon their success. At the conclusion of the match Mr J. A. Nash, in returning thanks for the hospitality the bowlers from the Manawatu had always received, assured the Wellingtonians that the annual fixture was one of the events of the season for Manawatu bowlers and was keenly looked forward to.
