WORK AT FLAXMILLS
STEP TOWARDS REOPENING. Under the arrangement _ by which the Unemployment Board is to assist tho flax industry, steps are being takon to ro-open three mills in tho Manawatu district, this week. The mills to commence operations are Messrs Ross, Rough and Coy.’s (Foxton), Mulcapai (Shannon) and Harper’s (Levin). About one hundred married men will be employed - on award wages—los per day —and applications for work exceed the number which can bo employed. Work will be provided under the No. 6 scheme in cleaning up the swamps, etc.
