TORRENTIAL RAIN
QUEENSLAND RIVERS FLOODED. RAILWAY SERVICES DISORGANISED. GREAT DAMAGE INEVITABLE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 8, 10.5 a.m. BRISBANE, Dec. 8. The central and south-western and coastal districts are menaced by the most extensive floods for years. Torrential rain has fallen for over a week, and many rivers and creeks already are in high flood. The railway and mail services are disorganised. Great damage is considered to be inevitable. IN NEW SOUTH WALES. A message from Sydney states: The rains in the north have eased and the position of the flood-threatened districts is brighter, but a number of railways ai;e disorganised by washouts. Several trucks of a wheat-train were derailed this morning near Manildra.
