(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTKA, Dec. 7. On Friday last tho Alethodist Young Women’s Biolo Class invited friends to a social evening tendered to Aliss A. Hunt, who has retired fnom the Bible class leadership, and Sunday School work. The large number (about seventy) present, both elderly and youthful, spent a very enjoyable evening. Air A. Pedley was a very capable AI.C. Rev. P. Cossum was unable to be present. During the evening Air L. H. Yarrali took tho opportunity, on behalf of the young women, of presenting Aliss Hunt with a handsome clock and referred to her almost unbroken record of attendance at Sunday school ovor a period of years, and the splendid influence for good 6he had exerted over her scholars, and also in the community. Aliss Hunt was also the recipient of a boautiful bouquet. Airs S. Foster spoke a few appropriate words on behalf of tho parents, and Air T. Alajor for the Young Alon’s Bible Class. Tho hall was decorated in a most effective manner, and, liko tho programme of music, games and competitions, showed evidence of very careful planning. Tho gathering was closed with the Benediction. ' TENNIS CLUB. Tho following tennis ladder matches were played during tho past week: —J. Lemon lost to G. Fades, 4 —6; V. Tunnicliffe lost to H. Walker, o—6; H. Walker lost to R. Aird, I—6; R. Gloyn lost to R. L. Ingham, 8 —10; R. Gloyn lost to L. J. Walker, 4 6; L. J. Walker lost to R. L. Ingham, 7 —9. In tho future, ladder matches will be 7 up for ladies and 9 up for gentlemen. As from December 11, play on the courts by others than financial members will not be countenanced.
