PARIS TRAGEDY
RESULT OF JEALOUSY.
Received December 7, 11.45 a.m. PARIS, Dec. 6. The police had to use tear gas bombs to enter a flat in the suburbs where they found Cecil Diaz, described as an Australian sculptor, and a French exsoldier, named Geroge Alartin, aged 35, both dead, and Aldlle. Novaron seriously wounded.
Aldlle. Novaron stated that Alartin was her lover and was jealous of Diaz’s purely friendly visits. Alartin invited Diaz to dinner, and in the middle of the meal accused Diaz. A fight began. Alartin seized a German bayonet from the wall and stabbed Diaz seven times. He shot her in a leg and she was wounded and helpless. Throughout the night she heard Diaz groaning in his dying agony. When the police came in the morning Alartin held them at bay for three hours until they brought tear gas. He then shot himself dead.
